Packaging

In addition to loosely laid goods, Elbe-Obst offers its customers in Germany and abroad individual packaging.

Individual packaging

Elbe-Obst packaging is available for the complete range. Food containers as well as 3-kilogram baskets and 5-kilogram cartons are most commonly used in supermarkets for pome fruits such as apples and pears. Cherries are usually delivered to retailers in 5-kilogram cartons with lids or 500-gram bowls.

Pome fruit assortment

Elbe-Obst offers the traditional products for sale. In addition to seasonal packaging for Easter, Halloween and Christmas, the retailer can also offer event-related units on topics such as football, the Olympics, soccer, etc. Whether food container, basket, crate or box – the creative employees ensure a quick implementation according to requirements.

A new series for the retailer are the packagings „Food Trends“. It is widely known that apples have been on everyone’s mind for a long time. However, pome fruit usually also fits in with current food trends. Elbe-Obst therefore developed the appropriate packaging for its retail partners.

In the organic sector, more and more biodegradable products are being used in addition to ecologically produced packaging.

Elbe-Obst is committed to supplying not only the best fruit, but also packaging that meets the demands of consumers.

Berries

The berries have a quick turnaround time due to their short shelf life. The fruit is usually harvested in the early morning hours in order to be available for customers in the supermarkets in the mid-morning.

Since the fruits are very delicate, they are harvested directly from the field into the appropriate packaging units. For this purpose, trays up to 500 grams are usually available.

Stone fruit

Elbe-Obst cultivates cherries, now mostly under a cover, and plums. While the cherries are mainly sold under the Naturoral brand in 2- or 5-kilogram cartons or 350-gram containers, the plums are sold in bulk of five kilograms or in 1-kilogram containers.

Convenience

The convenience market is supplied with freshly peeled or IQF-frozen apples for the production of ready-to-eat food.

The assortment of apple varieties includes whole apples, cubes, segments, rings, slices as well as strips, rods and fries. Special cuts are possible. The apple is peeled, cored and without stalks and flower. The prevalent firmness of apples in the Alte Land promotes their ease of peeling. The cube has a standard size of 10x10x10 mm and is free rolling frozen or freshly packed in a single cardboard box. For segments the apple is divided into equal parts. Whole apples, cubes and segments can be processed to five mm thick slices. A further specification are 1.5 to 3.0 mm thick match-like apple stripes. The products are manufactured in our own peeling factory.

Export

Elbe-Obst regularly exports goods to Scandinavia and the UK. Furthermore markets in Asia and the Arabian region are being developed.

Several apple varieties such as Red Prince, Gloster, Jonagold and Jonagored are, due to the excellent storage properties and in particular the so-called after storage behavior, ideal for export. In use comes, on the one hand, the cap carton with 18 kgs of net weight. Depending on the calibration of the apples you have per box 3 up to a maximum of 4 layers. The wadding consists of so-called mechanical wood pulp. On the other hand a 13kg double bearing tray is used in a reinforced version. Moreover, there are other containers possible as well.
