The Gala was bred in 1931 in Greytown (New Zealand) from Kidds Orange and Golden Delicious. This small to medium-sized apple has been traded on the market since 1960.
It is a round to high round apple with a golden yellow to pink marbled skin.
Currently, red mutants are mainly found on the market.
Its cream-colored, firm and juicy flesh is delicious. It tastes sweet-fruity and very aromatic.
